Nvidia CEO Expresses Gratitude for Employee’s Release from Hamas Captivity
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang shared a heartfelt letter with the company’s staff, expressing gratitude for the safe release of Avinatan Or, an Israeli employee who was held captive by Hamas for over two years.
Or and his partner, Noa Argamani, were taken captive during a terror attack near the Gaza border in 2023. While Argamani was rescued in 2024, Or remained in captivity until a recent ceasefire and hostage release deal facilitated his return home.
Upon Or’s release, Huang wrote, “After two unimaginable years in Hamas captivity, Avinatan has come home,” expressing his deep gratitude for Or’s safe return.
Or, who joined Nvidia in 2022 after graduating from Ben-Gurion University, worked as an engineer in the company’s VLSI group in Israel.
Huang also acknowledged the losses suffered by Nvidia’s team in Israel, including the death of employee Amit Chayut and the tragic killing of Danielle Waldman and her partner, who are related to Mellanox founder Eyal Waldman.
“The losses to our Jewish, Druze, and Arab families alike have been immense,” Huang wrote, emphasizing the unity and hope for peace among Nvidia’s employees.
He concluded the letter by welcoming Or back home and expressing hope for recovery, renewal, and lasting peace for all affected by the conflict.
A spokesperson for Nvidia declined to provide further comments on the letter.
