NY Jets CB Kris Boyd still in hospital while his accused shooter smiles in NYC courtroom
The case of the rapper accused of shooting New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd took a new turn as he appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Wednesday. Frederick Green, 20, flashed a grin at his supporters as he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges stemming from the November 16 shooting that left Boyd hospitalized.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Boyd is still recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgery a few weeks ago. Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Shilpa Kalra informed the court that Boyd’s condition has improved over several weeks and he is currently listed in stable condition.
The incident occurred when Green and his friends reportedly got into a verbal altercation with Boyd, along with his teammates Jamien Sherwood and Irvin Charles, at a nightclub in Midtown. The situation escalated, leading to a physical altercation where Green was seen on video putting on a mask before allegedly shooting at Boyd.
According to prosecutors, Green fired two shots at Boyd, with one bullet hitting his pulmonary artery. Boyd has undergone multiple surgeries since the incident and is still recovering in the hospital.
Green, who is also known as “Tbo Zay,” fled the scene in a white BMW following the shooting. He later hid in Buffalo, where he attempted to alter his appearance and evade authorities. However, he was eventually apprehended by law enforcement at his girlfriend’s apartment.
Boyd, a cornerback for the New York Jets, joined the team in 2025 after playing for several other NFL teams. Green’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 22 as the legal proceedings continue.
The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of a professional athlete and a high-profile shooting incident. The ongoing investigation and legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the case as both parties await further developments in the courtroom.
