NYC maniac who attacked 60-year-old woman with hammer sentenced 25 years to life

A horrifying incident took place at a Queens subway station where a 60-year-old woman was brutally attacked by a deranged man with a hammer. The victim, Nina Rothschild, was subjected to 13 blows to the head by the assailant, William Blount. The vicious attack left Rothschild bloodied and in a state of shock.

During the sentencing of Blount, Rothschild made a powerful statement urging the judge to ensure that he never sees the light of day outside of prison. She described the attack as brutal and expressed her belief that Blount could not be rehabilitated. She requested the maximum sentence with no possibility of parole to prevent him from harming anyone else in the future.

Judge John Zoll agreed with Rothschild’s plea and sentenced Blount to 25 years to life in prison for the heinous assault. Zoll condemned Blount for his actions, emphasizing the extreme violence of the attack on an innocent victim. He recounted the details of the incident, highlighting the viciousness of Blount’s actions towards Rothschild.

The attack took place at the Queens Plaza E, M, and R station, where Blount ambushed Rothschild from behind, striking her with a hammer and kicking her repeatedly before fleeing with her bag. Despite the traumatic experience, Rothschild showed incredible strength and resilience in the aftermath of the assault.

Blount was convicted of robbery and assault charges by a jury in April, although he was acquitted of attempted murder. During the court proceedings, Blount’s lawyer attempted to downplay the severity of the attack, claiming that his client thought Rothschild was a “nice lady” and was pursuing a career in fashion design.

However, Rothschild refuted these claims and questioned the motive behind the senseless attack. She expressed her confusion and pain over why she was targeted by Blount, emphasizing that she did not deserve such brutality. Despite the trauma she endured, Rothschild stood strong and confronted her attacker with courage and determination.

In a rare move, Judge Zoll handed down the maximum sentence to Blount, acknowledging Rothschild’s unwavering bravery and resilience throughout the ordeal. The judge commended Rothschild for her honesty and decency, highlighting her remarkable strength in the face of adversity.

The sentencing marked a moment of justice for Rothschild and a step towards closure after the traumatic incident. Blount’s violent actions were met with the full force of the law, ensuring that he would be held accountable for his heinous crime. As Rothschild continues to heal from the physical and emotional scars of the attack, she remains a symbol of resilience and courage in the face of adversity.
