NYPD Cop Impersonates ICE Agent, Demands Victim’s Family Report to Federal Office

An NYPD cop impersonated an ICE agent and demanded his victim and their family report to a federal office in New York City, federal prosecutors revealed on Tuesday. Atickul Islam, also known as “James W. Anderson,” was indicted on one count of false personation of an officer or employee of the United States after he allegedly claimed to be an ICE field-office director when contacting a victim in Queens.

The indictment revealed that Islam instructed the victim and their family to report to the ICE location by April 15, 2025.

Islam is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon as the legal proceedings continue.
