NYPD releases photos of 2 more ruffians wanted for pelting cops with snowballs in post-blizzard Washington Square Park chaos

The recent incident in Washington Square Park where uniformed NYPD officers were pelted with snowballs by hooligans has caused quite a stir. The NYPD has released photos of two more suspects believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, wearing black jackets. These individuals were caught on surveillance cameras throwing snow and ice at the officers, causing injuries that required hospital treatment.

The chaos began when a 911 call reported teens hurling snow off the roof of the park’s comfort station. As police responded to the call, they were bombarded with snowballs by the suspects. Two officers were treated for injuries, including a possible bruise behind one officer’s eye and a headache from being hit in the back of the head.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch condemned the actions of the snow-slingers, calling their behavior “disgraceful” and “criminal.” However, Mayor Zohran Mamdani downplayed the incident as juvenile antics, stating that officers deserve respect for their hard work during the blizzard.

No arrests have been made in connection to the snowball incident as of Wednesday morning. The NYPD is actively seeking to criminally charge the suspects responsible for targeting officers with snow and ice. The photos released by the NYPD show one suspect carrying a large chunk of snow, while the other has his hood pulled up against the cold weather.

The NYPD and police unions have denounced the actions of the snowball throwers, emphasizing the seriousness of their behavior. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers while carrying out their duties to protect the community. It is essential to treat all city workers, including officers, with respect and appreciation for their service.
