Ohio husband Kyle Long who claimed wife stabbed herself 17 times in suicide is charged with her murder

An Ohio man has been charged with the murder of his wife after claiming she stabbed herself 17 times to death following a request for separation. Kyle Long, 35, was arrested after a four-month investigation into the death of his wife, Rachel Long, 32, inside their home in London, Ohio.

According to police reports, Kyle Long told authorities that Rachel had returned home from work and went into the master bathroom while he was working at his desk. He claimed to have witnessed her stabbing herself repeatedly in the neck and face. However, Rachel was found on the bathroom floor in a pool of blood with stab wounds to the neck, face, arms, and hands.

During the investigation, text messages between Rachel and a friend were recovered, showing no signs of suicidal thoughts. The messages discussed outfits for a concert they were planning to attend the next night. There was also a four-minute gap between the last text message and a 911 call from Kyle’s phone, which helped authorities piece together the events leading up to Rachel’s death.

Further evidence from the scene indicated a struggle between two individuals, contradicting Kyle’s initial statement. An autopsy revealed multiple defensive wounds on Rachel’s body, suggesting that she could not have inflicted the injuries herself. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.

Rachel, who ran a pet grooming service and was known for her love of animals, was remembered for her passion for rescuing dogs and attending rock concerts. Kyle Long was charged with murder and is currently held on a $1.5 million bond. As of Saturday, no plea has been entered in the case.
