Ohio mom Stefanie Erin Kellenberger, former English teacher, sentenced for disturbing sexual abuse of teen babysitter

Stefanie Erin Kellenberger, a former Ohio middle school teacher, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for sexually abusing her daughter’s teenage babysitter. Kellenberger, 41, pleaded guilty to four counts of third-degree felony sexual battery and 17 counts of third-degree felony unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Prior to her guilty plea, prosecutors offered Kellenberger two options for her crimes: 12 years flat prison time or 15 years with the possibility of judicial release after 10 years. She chose the latter option. In addition to her prison sentence, Kellenberger will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender and re-register every 90 days for the rest of her life upon release.

During the sentencing, Judge Brent Robinson made it clear that the 15-year sentence may be served in its entirety. Kellenberger also agreed to permanently surrender her teaching license, have no contact with the victim, and spend five years on parole after her release.

The abuse began when the victim was just 13 years old in February 2020, with Kellenberger engaging in a sexual relationship with the girl when she turned 14 and continuing until she was 16. Kellenberger was placed on paid administrative leave in February 2024 when the abuse came to light.

In court, Kellenberger apologized to her victim, acknowledging the power dynamics at play as an adult in a position of trust. She also apologized to her daughter, expressing regret for the impact her actions will have on her family.

The sentencing marks a significant step in holding Kellenberger accountable for her crimes and providing closure for the victim as she moves forward with her life.
