Patrick Mahomes Admits He Can’t ‘Be the Dad That I Usually Am’ After Surgery

Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is making significant progress in his recovery after undergoing knee surgery last month. The surgery was necessary to repair his torn ACL and LCL, which he sustained during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on December 14. Despite the challenging rehabilitation process, Mahomes remains optimistic about his return to the field.

In a recent press conference, Mahomes opened up about how the surgery has impacted his home life. As a father of three young children – daughter Sterling, 4, and sons Bronze, 3, and Golden, 12 months – Mahomes expressed that he is unable to be as physically active with his kids as he would like to be. However, he credited his wife, Brittany Mahomes, for her support and for keeping him involved in family activities during this time.

The Mahomes family recently celebrated Golden’s first birthday with a festive party, which Brittany shared on social media. Despite his injury, Mahomes attended the event with a large brace on his left leg, showcasing his dedication to his family despite the challenges he is facing.

As Mahomes continues his rehabilitation process, he will be splitting his time between Kansas City and Dallas, where he will meet with Dr. Dan Cooper, the surgeon who performed his surgery. While most of his teammates are taking time off to rest and recover, Mahomes is eager to get back to training and building team camaraderie ahead of the upcoming season.

With his sights set on returning as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback for Week 1 of the season, Mahomes is focused on his recovery and rehabilitation. He understands the challenges that lie ahead but is determined to overcome them and lead his team to success. As he works towards his goal, Mahomes remains grateful for the support of his family, teammates, and medical team, all of whom are instrumental in his journey back to the field.
