Peloton recalls 833,000 more exercise bikes over faulty seat post
Peloton Recalls 833,000 Original Series Bike+ Exercise Bikes Due to Safety Concerns
Peloton has issued a recall for 833,000 of its Original Series Bike+ exercise bikes due to potential safety hazards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning stating that the seat posts on these bikes can break, leading to a risk of riders falling off.
According to a recall notice issued by Peloton, there have been three reported incidents of the seat posts detaching from the bikes during use, resulting in two riders sustaining injuries. As a precautionary measure, consumers are advised to discontinue use of the affected exercise bikes immediately.
Peloton will be providing free replacement seat posts for customers to install themselves. The recalled bikes have a model number of PL02 and bear a serial number starting with the letter “T,” as specified by the CPSC.
This recall follows a previous recall in 2023, where 2.2 million Peloton model PL01 bikes were recalled due to faulty seat posts posing similar risks to riders. The affected Original Series Bike+ exercise bikes were sold for approximately $2,495 at Peloton showrooms, Dick’s Sporting Goods stores, and online retailers such as Amazon, Peloton’s website, Dick’s, and eBay between January 2020 and April 2025.
