Pennsylvania high school student Zachariah Abraham Meyers accused of running ‘large-scale’ catfishing, sextortion scheme targeting 21 minors
A Pennsylvania high school senior is facing a multitude of felony charges after being accused of running a large-scale criminal network involving sextortion and catfishing. Zachariah Abraham Meyers, an 18-year-old from McMurray, was arrested and charged with over 300 felonies, including trafficking in minors, sexual extortion, unlawful contact with a minor, and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Authorities allege that Meyers used social media platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat to lure victims into communicating with him. He reportedly used photos of other people to create false identities, including that of an adult film actress from another country. Meyers allegedly deceived and coerced underage boys into sending explicit pornographic images and videos of themselves.
During the investigation, police interviewed 30 underage boys and identified at least 21 victims. Evidence recovered from Meyers’ phone linked him to the criminal activity. He is currently being held at Washington County Prison without bail, deemed a danger to the community and a flight risk.
The Peters Township School District, where Meyers is a senior at Peters Township High School, issued a statement acknowledging the ongoing investigation and assuring parents that there is no immediate safety risk to the schools. The district expressed cooperation with law enforcement and emphasized the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families as their top priority.
Both the Peters Township School District and the Peters Township Police Department have not responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital. The investigation into Meyers’ alleged criminal activities continues, with authorities working to ensure justice for the victims and prevent further exploitation.
