People Detained In SWAT Swarm On House Near Nancy Guthrie Neighborhood: Reports
A SWAT team was deployed to a residence near Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson neighborhood late Friday, where they apprehended a man and a woman, as reported by Fox News. Another man en route to the scene was also detained during a traffic stop.
The individuals detained have not been confirmed as suspects in Guthrie’s disappearance, but the Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated that the law enforcement operation was connected to her case. Guthrie, who is the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since January 31.
Details about the operation were limited, with the Sheriff’s Department citing a joint investigation with the FBI as the reason for withholding information. Reports from NewsNation and Fox News indicated multiple individuals were detained at different locations.
The neighborhood was swarmed by law enforcement vehicles, and roads were shut down for several hours, as reported by CNN. The escalation in activity followed the discovery of DNA at Guthrie’s home that did not belong to her, prompting investigators to search for its source.
Earlier in the week, images surfaced of a masked, armed individual tampering with the door camera at Guthrie’s residence. Gloves found in the vicinity are being examined for potential links to the case.
