US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth Leads Record-Breaking Pushup Brigade at Navy vs. Air Force Football Game

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made headlines during Navy’s thrilling 34-31 victory over Air Force on Saturday in Annapolis, Maryland.

Hegseth orchestrated a pushup brigade involving cadets, officers, and fans at the game, setting a new Guinness World Record in the process.

The group, led by Hegseth, completed 3,068 pushups in one minute, breaking the previous record set by the Air Force Academy.

Not only did Navy secure a win on the football field, but they also claimed the pushup record from their rivals at the Air Force Academy.

According to Guinness World Records, the previous record of 2,926 pushups was achieved by the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs back in April 2023.

Hegseth’s impressive feat garnered praise on social media, with many commending his leadership and involvement in the event.

Aside from the pushup record, Hegseth also joined the Navy football team in their postgame celebration and delivered a rousing locker room speech following their victory.

The win over Air Force puts Navy (5-0) in a strong position to retain the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy, awarded to the winner of the round-robin competition between the service academies.

Navy will have the opportunity to clinch the trophy in the upcoming Army-Navy game scheduled for December 13.

Earlier in the day, Hegseth made headlines by firing Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison, who had been appointed to the role in January.
