PlayStation 5 prices to rise in the U.S. starting this week, Sony says

PlayStation 5 Prices Increase in the U.S.

In a recent announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed that the PlayStation 5 is set to see a price increase in the U.S. Starting August 21, the popular video game console will now cost $549.99, marking a $50 increase from its current price of $499.99. The company cited the “challenging economic environment” as the reason behind the price hike, with pricing for the console remaining unchanged in markets outside the U.S.

Additionally, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, which does not include a disk drive, will now be priced at $499.99, while the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro will cost $749.99. Sony has confirmed that the prices for PS5 accessories will remain unchanged despite the console price increase.

It’s worth noting that other gaming console manufacturers have also raised their prices recently. Microsoft increased the price of its Xbox Series X by $100 to $599.99 in May, while Nintendo adjusted the pricing of its original Switch console in response to market conditions in August.
