CASTEL GANDOLFO, Italy — Pope Leo XIV expressed his appreciation for the Thanksgiving holiday, calling it a “beautiful feast” that brings believers and non-believers together. In a message released ahead of the U.S. holiday, Leo emphasized the importance of gratitude and unity.
The Pope shared his gratitude for the gift of life, faith, and unity, urging people to acknowledge the blessings they have received. “Thanksgiving is a time to express our thanks to others, regardless of their beliefs,” he stated.
Leo made these remarks while speaking to reporters during his visit to Castel Gandolfo, where he spends time relaxing and playing tennis on Mondays and Tuesdays.
He described Thanksgiving as a unifying celebration in the United States, bringing people of different backgrounds and beliefs together to express gratitude. The Pope will celebrate his first Thanksgiving as pontiff in Turkey during his upcoming foreign trip.
