Popular YouTube personality ‘Mr. Crafty Pants’ busted for child porn
A well-known influencer and YouTube creator called “Mr. Crafty Pants” has been arrested for allegedly possessing and sharing disturbing sexual images of children on social media. Michael David Booth, who has a substantial following of nearly 600,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel where he showcases arts and crafts tutorials, was taken into custody in Kentucky after reportedly distributing the offensive images on the messaging app Kik.
According to reports from Wave News, Booth allegedly had six explicit photos in his possession, with three depicting children under the age of 12 and the remaining images showing teenagers. These images were shared more than 15 times with other users between August 4 and August 7. The arrest was made after the social app flagged Booth’s account, which was linked to an IP address at his Norton Commons residence.
Neighbors, like Laura Nash, expressed shock and concern over the news, with Nash describing the neighborhood as family-friendly. She mentioned that Booth followed many of her friends online, causing worry about what he may have been viewing. The incident has left residents feeling vulnerable and aware of potential dangers lurking online.
Booth has been charged with possession and distribution of material portraying a sexual performance by a minor. His online persona, which included a significant following on Facebook and Instagram, has come under scrutiny following the arrest. Despite his online presence, Booth has not posted on his YouTube channel in several months, with his last Facebook post being on Tuesday.
During his arraignment, Booth’s bond was set at $150,000, and if released, he would be placed on home detention with restrictions on internet access. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday to address the charges brought against him. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can exist on social media platforms, even within seemingly harmless online communities.
