Pre-teen charged with attempted murder in stabbing of boy, 12, inside NYC playground: cops
A shocking incident occurred in a Brooklyn playground where a 12-year-old boy was stabbed by another 12-year-old, leaving the victim in critical condition. The attack took place in Betsy Head Park in Brownsville, and the motive behind the violence seems to stem from an ongoing dispute between the two youngsters.
The victim, Khayell Dupree, was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition after sustaining serious injuries to his chest. His mother, Karerja Rerd, shared the heartbreaking details of her son’s injuries, revealing that the knife had punctured his left lung and heart, requiring extensive medical intervention.
The alleged attacker was apprehended at the scene, and a knife was recovered by the authorities. The suspect will be charged with attempted murder as a juvenile, with the legal proceedings taking place in Family Court. The circumstances leading to the violent altercation are still under investigation, but it is clear that the consequences of such senseless violence are severe and far-reaching.
In a separate incident in Ridgewood, Queens, two boys aged 13 and 15 were stabbed during a brawl outside the Seneca Avenue M train station. The younger teen suffered a chest wound, while the older victim was stabbed in the back. Fortunately, both victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The prevalence of youth violence in these communities is a cause for concern, as innocent children are being caught up in dangerous situations that have lasting consequences. As parents, we must strive to create safe environments for our children and instill values of peace and respect to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
