Prime Video Mystery Thriller Intrigues

The world of dating can be a tricky one, with connections and attractions sometimes leading to destructive obsessions. Prime Video’s latest thriller series, “56 Days,” based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel and adapted for television by Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher, delves into the dark side of relationships, revenge, and secrets intertwined with intense chemistry.

The series kicks off with a chilling scene of a masked figure entering an apartment where a decaying corpse is found in a bathtub. The story then rewinds to Day 1, introducing us to Ciara Wyse (played by Dove Cameron), a young woman with secrets of her own, and Oliver Kennedy (played by Avan Jogia), a wealthy architect smitten by Ciara’s charm. As their passionate relationship unfolds, it becomes evident that both Ciara and Oliver are hiding truths that could unravel everything.

Detectives Reardon (Karla Souza) and Connolly (Dorian Missick) are called to investigate the gruesome crime scene, but the case proves to be far from straightforward. The identity of the deceased is a mystery, and the detectives soon discover that the apartment belonged to Ciara and Oliver. As the investigation progresses, past secrets and hidden agendas come to light, painting a picture of deception and betrayal.

“56 Days” weaves between past and present, unraveling the complex web of lies and desires that bind Ciara and Oliver together. While Oliver struggles with his troubled past, Ciara’s true intentions in Boston slowly come to light, revealing a woman determined to achieve her goals at any cost. The series delves into themes of privilege, childhood trauma, and the consequences of obsession, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with each twist and turn.

As the story reaches its climax, the truth behind Ciara and Oliver’s relationship is finally exposed, leading to a conclusion that is both surprising and satisfying. While not as shocking as some other thrillers, “56 Days” delivers a gripping narrative that keeps viewers engaged until the very end.

All eight episodes of “56 Days” are set to premiere on Prime Video on Feb. 18, offering audiences a thrilling and suspenseful journey into the dark side of love and obsession.
