Priya Dogra Appointed Chief Executive of U.K. Broadcaster Channel 4

Priya Dogra has been announced as the incoming chief executive of Channel 4, a prominent U.K. public service broadcaster. She will be taking over from Alex Mahon, who stepped down from the position earlier this year after serving for 8 years. Dogra is set to assume her new role in March 2026, while the current chief, Jonathan Allan, will continue as the interim CEO until her arrival. It is worth noting that Allan was one of the contenders for the CEO position, along with Netflix executive Emma Lloyd.

With an extensive background in the media industry spanning over two decades in various regions including the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and the U.K., Dogra brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to her appointment at Channel 4, she held the position of chief advertising group data and new revenue Officer at Sky, a leading pay-TV company. Dogra also spent 14 years at Time Warner/WarnerMedia and Warner Bros. Discovery, where she served as president and managing director for Warner Bros. Discovery (Europe Middle East and Africa) EMEA. In this role, she oversaw programming, production, marketing, advertising, commercial partnerships, and content licensing, while also leading local original series production for HBO and HBO Max.

Geoff Cooper, the chair of Channel 4, expressed his delight in Dogra’s appointment, citing her exceptional leadership skills, commercial acumen, and passion for the broadcaster’s public service mission. He highlighted her track record of driving commercial growth, digital transformation, fostering creative processes, and delivering effective programming strategies. Dogra herself expressed her excitement about joining Channel 4, emphasizing the organization’s vital role in British culture and its mission to challenge, reflect, and represent diverse voices across the UK.

In conclusion, the appointment of Priya Dogra as Channel 4’s new chief executive signifies a new chapter for the broadcaster as it continues to evolve and fulfill its public service remit. Dogra’s extensive experience and strategic vision are expected to drive the channel’s growth and further enhance its impact on the media landscape.
