Puerto Rico nightclub shooting leaves 1 teen dead, 5 other people wounded

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A tragic incident unfolded in western Puerto Rico early Friday as a nightclub shooting claimed the life of a teenager and left five others injured, two of whom are in serious condition, according to authorities.

The victims, aged between 18 and 21, were caught in the crossfire of the shooting that took place in the coastal town of Mayaguez. The deceased teenager was identified as 19-year-old Jonathan Cruz González.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects have been apprehended at this time.

This tragic incident adds to the growing number of violent crimes in the U.S. Caribbean territory, with at least 257 reported killings this year, compared to 308 during the same period last year.
