Second Installment of “My Melbourne” Brings Together Acclaimed Indian Filmmakers
The highly praised Indo-Australian film collaboration, “My Melbourne,” is set to release its second installment, continuing its mission of cultural exchange through the medium of cinema. After the success of the first film released in March 2025, which featured segments directed by Rima Das, Onir, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan, Mind Blowing Films has announced the lineup for the upcoming chapter.
The original “My Melbourne” explored themes of identity, gender, race, sexuality, and disability, receiving critical acclaim in both India and Australia.
Mitu Bhowmick Lange, CEO of Mind Blowing Films and the driving force behind the project, expressed her gratitude for the success of the first film and the opportunity to continue the collaboration. She emphasized the project’s celebration of inclusivity, collaboration, and creativity between the two countries.
The new lineup of directors for the second installment includes Rajkumar Hirani, Anjali Menon, Shoojit Sircar, and the returning director Onir. Each filmmaker brings a unique perspective and a commitment to socially conscious storytelling.
Hirani, known for his blockbuster films like the “Munna Bhai” series and “3 Idiots,” expressed his excitement to be part of a project that bridges cultures through cinema.
Menon, recognized for her sensitive portrayals of relationships and family dynamics, sees “My Melbourne” as an opportunity to create empathy and connection through storytelling.
Sircar, whose films often tackle social issues, highlighted the universal nature of storytelling and the global impact of local narratives.
