Rams troll Jim Harbaugh over Michigan sign-stealing penalty

The Los Angeles Rams social media team didn’t waste any time poking fun at former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh after their preseason victory over the Chargers on Saturday night. Harbaugh, who is now coaching in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers, recently received a 10-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA for his involvement in Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal during the 2023-24 national championship season.

The NCAA fined the school at least $20 million for stealing signs, an offense that Harbaugh claims he was unaware of. Despite the penalties, Harbaugh is now coaching in the NFL and is not subject to the NCAA’s ruling until 2028 due to a separate four-year show-cause penalty for recruiting violations.

After the Rams’ victory over the Chargers, their social media team posted a playful message directed at Harbaugh. The team’s official account tweeted, “Sign-ing off,” along with a photo of their mascot holding a sign that read, “Hail to the Victors!”

When asked about the NCAA ruling, Harbaugh declined to comment, stating, “Like I said to you last year, not engaging. I’m done engaging.” Despite the controversy surrounding Harbaugh’s tenure at Michigan, he has moved on to the NFL and is focused on coaching the Chargers.

Overall, the Rams’ social media team’s playful jab at Harbaugh adds a lighthearted touch to the ongoing saga of the sign-stealing scandal, showcasing their creativity and humor in engaging with fans and followers on social media platforms.
