Rapist out on parole nabbed for savagely beating NYC mom unconscious

A horrifying incident occurred on Randall’s Island when a convicted rapist, Miguel Jiraud, viciously beat a mother, Diana Agudelo, unconscious. The shocking attack took place on May 16, and Jiraud, who was out on parole for a previous rape conviction, was wearing his ankle monitor at the time.

Agudelo was ambushed by Jiraud as she walked along the bike path at 600 E. 125th St. around 11:30 p.m. The brutal assault left Agudelo with facial fractures, a cracked skull, and a broken nose, with NYPD Chief Joseph Kenny describing it as “one of the worst beatings I’ve ever seen.” She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, fighting for her life.

What makes this incident even more disturbing is the fact that Jiraud called 911 himself to report the attack before fleeing the scene. He was later arrested and charged with attempted murder. Agudelo’s daughter, Stephanie Rodas, shared the heartbreaking news that her mother’s surgeon had given her a 1% chance of survival.

Agudelo, a hardworking mother who was walking home from her job at the Museum of the City of New York when she was attacked, has been fighting for her life in the hospital. Her children were shocked to see her in such a battered state, unable to recognize her due to the extent of her injuries.

Jiraud’s criminal history is equally disturbing, with sources revealing that he was convicted of a rape in 2011 and sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2013. He was released on parole in August, with his parole set to expire in 2040. The heinous nature of this attack has left the community shaken and outraged at the violence inflicted on an innocent woman.

As Agudelo continues to fight for her life, her family remains hopeful and steadfast in their belief that she will pull through. The search for justice and accountability for this senseless act of violence is ongoing, as the community comes together to support Agudelo and her family during this difficult time.
