Real estate developer plans apartment complex at Denver Montessori school site
The Corner of 22nd and Federal Set to Receive New Development
The intersection of 22nd and Federal is capturing the attention of out-of-state investors. Beverly Hills-based Kennedy Wilson, a prominent real estate investor and developer, has proposed the construction of a 242-unit apartment complex at 2246 Federal Blvd., where a school currently stands.
Family Star Montessori, the current owner of the 1.7-acre site, has not commented on the proposal. The school, which caters to infants and young children, is facing changes in federal funding for early childhood programs, prompting the need to sell one of its properties and relocate.
The Jefferson Park school is strategically located near the park and in close proximity to Empower Field at Mile High. If Kennedy Wilson proceeds with its development plans, it will expand its portfolio of Denver metro apartments. The company already manages a significant number of apartments globally and has recently acquired properties in Littleton, Colorado Springs, and near DIA.
In a recent announcement, Kennedy Wilson revealed a $1.5 billion merger agreement with Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, marking a significant milestone for the company as it transitions to private ownership. The deal is anticipated to be finalized in the second quarter of this year.
