Renowned civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson has been hospitalized as he continues to battle a serious neurodegenerative condition, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition announced on Wednesday.
The organization revealed that Jackson is currently under medical observation in the hospital for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a condition he has been fighting for nearly a decade.
“The family is grateful for all the prayers and support during this challenging time,” the coalition stated in a release.
Initially diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Jackson’s PSP diagnosis was confirmed in April, according to the group’s statement.
Further details regarding his treatment plan and recovery timeline have not been disclosed at this time.
