Rhea Seehorn to Receive SeriesFest Excellence in Acting Award

Rhea Seehorn, known for her Emmy-nominated work on “Better Call Saul” and the independent series “Cooper’s Bar,” will be honored with SeriesFest’s “Excellence in Acting Award” during the festival’s 11th season on May 2. The announcement was made exclusively by Variety.

Seehorn’s portrayal of Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul” has garnered her two Emmy nominations and critical acclaim. She also starred in popular shows like “Veep,” “Whitney,” and the 2019 reboot of “The Twilight Zone.” Her recent project, “Cooper’s Bar,” where she served as both a lead actress and executive producer, started as an independent series before being picked up by AMC Networks.

SeriesFest co-founders, Randi Kleiner and Kaily Smith, praised Seehorn for her fearless performances, artistic integrity, and commitment to authentic storytelling. They emphasized her contribution to independent television and her ability to portray characters that resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impact.

In addition to honoring Seehorn, SeriesFest will feature a conversation about the future of film festivals with Sundance Film Festival’s director, Eugene Hernandez, along with television producer Doug Mankoff and independent filmmaker Cooper Raiff. The festival will also showcase the U.S. premiere of the drama series “Sunny Nights,” starring Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden, produced by Jungle Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment.

Furthermore, SeriesFest’s International Spotlight will shine on Netflix’s Mexican comedy series “Welcome to the Family,” with a screening and conversation featuring series creator/director Mark Alazraki and EP Moy Chiver. The show follows the story of an evicted single mom who conspires with her estranged father’s second wife to cover up his death after learning they’ve been excluded from his will.

SeriesFest is scheduled to run from April 29 to May 4, offering a platform for emerging voices in television and celebrating excellence in acting and storytelling. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from this exciting television festival.
