Russell Brand pleads not guilty to new rape and sexual assault charges

LONDON —
British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to new charges of rape and sexual assault in court on Tuesday.

Brand, who was already facing similar charges involving four women, denied the new allegations in Southwark Crown Court. The incidents in question reportedly occurred in 2009, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Brand, aged 50, was previously charged in April with multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault. These charges, involving four women, are said to have taken place between 1999 and 2005, with one incident in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand had previously pleaded not guilty to these charges earlier this year.

A trial is set for June and is expected to last four to five weeks.

The actor, best known for his role in “Get Him To The Greek,” has shifted away from mainstream media in recent years. Brand has gained a significant online following for his videos on wellness, conspiracy theories, and discussions about his spiritual beliefs.
