Russia issues warning as European leaders, Zelenskyy gather in Paris before Trump call

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate as Russian troops advance further into the country. The situation has prompted a series of high-level meetings between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and top European leaders, with the aim of finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

One key sticking point in the negotiations is the presence of Western troops in Ukraine. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has made it clear that it will not accept any form of foreign intervention in Ukraine as part of a peace deal. According to spokesperson Maria Zakharova, Western powers see Ukraine as a testing ground for their military developments, a notion that Moscow vehemently opposes.

Despite Russia’s firm stance, the issue of Western troops in Ukraine is still under discussion by NATO leaders and the Ukrainian government. Kyiv argues that security guarantees, including the possible deployment of Western forces, are necessary to facilitate a peace deal brokered by the United States.

In the midst of these discussions, Zelenskyy is set to meet with a group of European leaders in Paris, known as the “Coalition of the Willing.” The group will later speak with U.S. President Donald Trump to further coordinate efforts to end the conflict.

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed readiness to offer security guarantees to Ukraine once a peace deal is reached. Macron and Zelenskyy discussed measures to ensure lasting peace in Ukraine, although details of these measures were not immediately disclosed.

Zelenskyy remains optimistic about the possibility of a diplomatic solution with the support of Europe and the U.S. However, tensions between Russia and Ukraine persist, with Moscow showing no signs of willingness to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, Trump has defended his administration’s actions in response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. He cited recent tariffs imposed on India for purchasing Russian energy goods and military equipment as evidence of his administration’s actions against Moscow.

As the negotiations continue, the international community remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. The involvement of key players like Zelenskyy, European leaders, and the U.S. underscores the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
