Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 65W Charging Could be at Risk

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is facing potential challenges with achieving its highly anticipated 65W charging speeds, and the culprit may not be Samsung itself. Historically, Samsung’s flagship phones have fallen behind when it comes to fast charging capabilities. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, like its predecessors, maxes out at 45W, a far cry from the impressive 100W support seen in phones like the OnePlus 13.

Rumors had suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra was set to break this trend and offer faster charging speeds. However, a recent leak has raised doubts about this possibility. According to @SPYGO19726, internal testing has revealed that the 65W charging target for the Galaxy S26 Ultra may be at risk, and the blame lies with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This new processor, known for running hot, is reportedly causing thermal issues that prevent the phone from charging at its full capacity.

Interestingly, Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 chip seems to be immune to these thermal constraints, hinting at a potential advantage for Samsung’s custom chip over Qualcomm’s offering. Leaked performance benchmarks suggest that the Exynos 2600 outperforms Apple’s A19 Pro in terms of CPU, GPU, and NPU capabilities. However, speculations about Samsung dividing chip provision based on regional markets raise doubts about whether the company will allow superior charging speeds in certain regions over others.

Despite the promising performance of the Exynos 2600, it appears that hopes for a significant improvement in charging speeds for the Galaxy S26 Ultra may be dashed. Samsung’s cautious approach, possibly stemming from past incidents of phone explosions, suggests that the company may fall short once again in delivering the best charging technology in 2026. The ongoing developments in the smartphone industry, particularly in the realm of fast charging technology, will continue to shape the competitive landscape for flagship devices.
