Samsung Project Moohan Android XR Galaxy Event Announced
In summary
- Samsung has sent out invites for a Galaxy Event scheduled on 22 October
- Project Moohan, the first Android XR device, is set to be launched
Samsung has announced an upcoming Galaxy Event with a strong focus on AR and mixed reality technology.
The event will be livestreamed on Samsung’s Newsroom and YouTube channel on October 21 at 10pm ET, which translates to 3am on October 22 in the UK.
What to expect
The event will not be centered around new smartphones like previous Unpacked events but will focus on “extended reality” technology.
Samsung will introduce “A New Era of Multimodal AI” and unveil a new category of AI-native wearable devices.
The highlight of the event will be the Android XR project, a collaboration between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, featuring the launch of the first Android XR device, known as Project Moohan.
Project Moohan, an AR headset, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, has been showcased at various tech events, hinting at a high price range of £1,324 to £2,100.
What not to expect
There will unlikely be any major Galaxy device announcements at the event, as it is not branded as an Unpacked event and the timing does not align with typical device launches.
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 is expected in January, and recent foldable phone and tablet launches indicate no new products in those categories at the event.
While a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold is possible, the focus of the event will be on advancing AR and mixed reality technology with the integration of AI.
