Samsung Will Skip One UI 7 for Galaxy Watch Wearables

Samsung is reportedly planning to skip One UI 7 for its Galaxy Watch smartwatch range, with rumors suggesting that the tech giant will jump straight to One UI 8 Watch later this year. This decision, as leaked by IposDev and supported by Sammobile, is aimed at aligning Samsung’s wearable devices with its latest smartphones.

Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 operates on One UI 6 Watch, running on WearOS 5 since its launch in July 2024 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6. However, this software version has fallen out of sync with Samsung’s smartphone lineup, which now features the full version of One UI 7 starting with the Galaxy S25 series in January.

To bridge this gap, Samsung is reportedly planning to skip One UI 7 Watch and introduce One UI 8 Watch as the next major smartwatch OS update. By doing so, Samsung aims to bring its wearable range in line with its smartphones, offering a more cohesive user experience across its devices.

While details about One UI 8 Watch are scarce at the moment, Samsung has hinted at focusing on enhanced health-related features and incorporating artificial intelligence into the new smartwatch. During a recent earnings call, executive Daniel Araujo teased that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, likely to run on One UI 8 Watch, will boast innovative health features and emphasize AI capabilities.

Moreover, there are indications that the new watch will sport an innovative design, with rumors suggesting the return of the Classic model featuring a rotating bezel. If true, this would mark the first Classic model since the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic released in 2023.
