Samsung’s Galaxy Tri-Fold Is The First One I Actually Care About
Samsung fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of a groundbreaking new device, and their patience may soon be rewarded. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 models were recently unveiled, the real excitement lies in Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold smartphone.
During a special event in New York City, Samsung’s Mobile Division Head TM Roh hinted at the company’s plans to launch a tri-fold device by the end of the year. While initial availability may be limited to South Korea and surrounding regions, a global release is expected in 2026.
Samsung UK’s Smartphone Specialist Product Manager, Kadesh Beckford, emphasized that the company is closely monitoring the market and preparing to introduce a revolutionary device when the time is right. However, the official name for the tri-fold device is still undecided, with rumors suggesting it could be called the ‘Galaxy G Fold’ among other options.
A tri-fold smartphone features two folds, allowing for a larger internal display that rivals the size of many tablets. Currently, Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design is the only tri-fold device on the market, boasting a 6.4-inch cover display that expands to 7.9 inches with one fold and 10.2 inches with two folds. Despite its global launch, Huawei’s software limitations and availability issues in regions like the UK and US give Samsung a significant advantage in the tri-fold category.
With Samsung holding a dominant 41% market share in the European foldable market, the company is poised to establish itself as a leader in the tri-fold segment. While pricing may be a concern, with the Mate XT priced at €3499, Samsung’s tri-fold device is expected to be competitively priced, albeit higher than its current flagship models. For tech enthusiasts seeking the latest innovations, the appeal of Samsung’s tri-fold device may outweigh the cost.
As Samsung continues to push the boundaries of foldable technology, the launch of their tri-fold smartphone promises to revolutionize the mobile industry and redefine the possibilities of smartphone design. Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung prepares to unveil its most ambitious foldable device yet.
