Fremantle Secures Scripted Sales Across Asia
Fremantle, a leading production company, has successfully closed a series of scripted sales deals in Asia, showcasing a diverse range of compelling dramas. One of the highlights is the action-adventure series “Sandokan: The Pirate Prince,” which has garnered significant attention in the region.
Produced by Lux Vide and based on Emilio Salgari’s renowned saga, “Sandokan” features a star-studded cast including Can Yaman, Alanah Bloor, Ed Westwick, and John Hannah. The series has been acquired by prominent platforms such as Rewind’s Hits Now, Hulu in Japan, and LG U+ in South Korea, signaling its widespread appeal across Asia.
Another standout offering from Lux Vide is the fast-paced drama “Hotel Costiera,” helmed by Emmy winner Adam Bernstein and starring Jesse Williams. The series, which follows a former Marine investigating a missing-person case on the Amalti Coast, will soon be available on Hits Now, Star Entertainment in India, and LG U+ in South Korea.
Adding to the lineup is the Sky Original thriller “The Iris Affair,” created by Neil Cross and featuring acclaimed actors Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander. The gripping series is set to premiere on BBC First, BBC Player, and Wowow in Japan, offering audiences a thrilling viewing experience.
Several Fremantle titles have also been acquired by Now TV Limited in Hong Kong, including the psychological thriller “Little Disasters,” romantic comedy-drama “Film Club,” drama “The Rumour,” “Daddy Issues” Season 2, and “Big Mood” Season 2. These diverse offerings cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences among viewers in the region.
LG U+ in South Korea has secured over 70 hours of Fremantle dramas, including both current and catalog titles. From thrillers like “No Man’s Land” to adventure dramas like “The Luminaries” and acclaimed series like “The Young Pope” and “The New Pope,” the platform is set to offer a diverse selection of premium content to its audience.
These exciting deals were announced at the prestigious Asia TV Forum and Market in Singapore, underscoring Fremantle’s commitment to delivering top-quality content to audiences across Asia.
Haryaty Rahman, Executive VP Distribution Asia at Fremantle, expressed her excitement about the positive reception of their scripted slate in Asia, emphasizing the growing demand for authentic storytelling in the region. She highlighted the strong connection that their bold new dramas and iconic catalogue titles have established with partners and viewers alike.
These latest sales come on the heels of Fremantle’s recent announcement regarding the availability of the final season of “My Brilliant Friend: The Story of the Lost Child” and the complete box set on leading Chinese platforms. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time that all four major platforms in China have simultaneously premiered a non-English language European drama series, further solidifying Fremantle’s presence in the region.
