Scissor-wielding, well-dressed woman punches, stabs man taking photos on NYC street in broad daylight: cops

A shocking incident unfolded in the West Village when a stylish woman in heels and a leather jacket turned violent towards an unsuspecting photographer. The amateur photographer had been snapping photos in the area when he accidentally captured an image of the sunglasses and dress-wearing brunette. This seemingly innocent act triggered a Britney Spears-level paparazzi rage in the woman.

The altercation took place on Varick Street near West Houston Street around 4:20 p.m. on May 5. The woman first punched the photographer in the shoulder before brandishing a pair of scissors and stabbing him in the back, causing minor injuries. She then made a swift exit, fleeing south on Varick Street and disappearing into the Houston Street subway station.

Despite the attack, the victim refused medical attention at the scene. The NYPD has since released surveillance photos and video of the suspect, showcasing her in a black dress, leather jacket, and heels. In the footage, she can be seen wearing sunglasses before making her escape underground.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward by contacting the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online at the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on social media.

This brazen daytime attack serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of public spaces and the importance of staying vigilant. As the investigation continues, the authorities are working to apprehend the assailant and bring her to justice for her violent actions.
