Scotland’s Lomond School And Saifedean Ammous Launch New Bitcoin Scholarship Program

Lomond School Launches Satoshi Scholarships Powered by Bitcoin

In an exciting new development that merges education with Bitcoin innovation, Lomond School has unveiled the introduction of the Satoshi Scholarships, a groundbreaking Bitcoin-powered scholarship initiative. The announcement, detailed in a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine, coincides with a strategic collaboration with esteemed economist Dr. Saifedean Ammous to craft an Austrian economics curriculum for students.

As a trailblazing independent co-educational day and boarding school, Lomond School made headlines as the first institution globally to accept Bitcoin as payment for tuition. The school is now offering 21 two-year boarding scholarships and 21 two-year day scholarships, covering the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in its entirety. These scholarships aim to empower students with a keen interest in economics, innovation, and critical thinking, irrespective of their background.

“The response from the Bitcoin community following our decision to accept Bitcoin for fees has been truly remarkable,” remarked Claire Chisholm, Principal of Lomond School, in a recent appearance on Jordan Walker’s Bitcoin Collective Podcast. “The launch of the scholarship program felt like a natural progression. With Dr. Ammous endorsing our curriculum and the unveiling of our scholarship initiative, we invite dedicated supporters to join us as benefactors and contribute to shaping the next generation of economic thinkers.”

In addition to the scholarships, Lomond School is rolling out a novel economics curriculum in partnership with Dr. Ammous, renowned for his work as the author of The Bitcoin Standard. This curriculum will place a strong emphasis on Austrian economics, sound money principles, and the ethical considerations of financial freedom.

“The future of freedom and prosperity hinges on the upcoming generation grasping sound economics,” emphasized Dr. Ammous. “Through this collaboration, we aim to instill the values of long-term thinking and financial literacy from an early age. I am thrilled to collaborate with Lomond School on this incredibly promising venture.”

The curriculum will complement Lomond’s forward-thinking educational model, incorporating hands-on Bitcoin utilization. Students will delve into decentralized finance concepts, engage with Bitcoin mining hardware donated to the school, and acquire practical knowledge of monetary systems beyond traditional classroom settings.

Seeking 43 founding benefactors—one for each scholarship and the flagship sponsor package—Lomond School is actively inviting individuals to partake in shaping the future. Chisholm expressed, “Join the ranks of the 43 who will influence the future—where education meets innovation, and where Austrian economics finds its place in the classroom. Let us together make a difference from Helensburgh.” Those interested can find more information or register their interest by reaching out to [email protected].
