‘Scrubs’ Reboot Brings Back Judy Reyes as Carla

Judy Reyes to Reprise Role in “Scrubs” Reboot

Judy Reyes is set to reprise her role as Carla Espinosa in the upcoming “Scrubs” reboot on ABC. This news comes after the announcement of returning cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke. Reyes will be making appearances in a recurring guest star role as Carla in the series.

Reyes has a strong relationship with ABC, currently starring in the procedural drama “High Potential.” Her recent TV credits include “Dr. Death,” “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” “Better Things,” “Devious Maids,” and “Claws.” In the film industry, Reyes has appeared in features like “The Circle,” “Birth/Rebirth,” and “Turtles All the Way Down.”

She is represented by Buchwald, ATA Management, and Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell & Vassallo.

The official logline for the new “Scrubs” states, “JD (Braff) & Turk (Faison) scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”

Former “Scrubs” colleagues Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra will be executive producers and showrunners for the reboot, with Bill Lawrence executive producing via Doozer along with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Braff, Faison, and Chalke are also executive producing and starring in the series. The studio behind the revival is 20th Television.

The new “Scrubs” was first reported to be in early development in December 2024, with Braff’s return confirmed in May. The original series aired on NBC for seven seasons from 2001-2008, followed by two seasons on ABC from 2009-2010. Set at Sacred Heart Hospital, the comedy followed the lives of interns, doctors, nurses, and the Janitor. Apart from the main cast, the show also featured Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Neil Flynn.
