Japanese Pop Star Ren Meguro Joins “Shogun” Season 2 Cast
Ren Meguro, a Japanese pop star and actor, has been announced as the newest addition to the cast of “Shogun” Season 2. Meguro, known for his work in the idol group Snow Man and his roles in films and television shows like “Silent” and “Trillion Game,” will be playing the character Kazutada in the upcoming season.
In a statement, Meguro expressed his excitement about joining the cast of “Shogun” Season 2. He mentioned how watching the first season of the series on Disney+ had deeply impacted him, and as a Japanese individual, he felt compelled to be a part of this groundbreaking production. Meguro also emphasized his commitment to honoring the legacy of the series and the importance of his role in shaping the story.
Joining Meguro in the new season are other newcomers such as Asami Mizukawa, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kaneta, Takaaki Enoki, and Jun Kunimura. Returning original cast members include Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Fumi Nikaidô, and others.
“Shogun” Season 2 is set to continue the saga of two men from different worlds, ten years after the events of the first season. Directors Hiromi Kamata and Takeshi Fukunaga will return to helm episodes, along with Anthony Byrne, Kate Herron, and series co-creator Justin Marks. The writing team for the new season includes Rachel Kondo, Shannon Goss, and others.
Based on the 1975 James Clavell novel, “Shogun” was created for television by Kondo and Marks and is produced by FX Productions. The series has garnered praise for its unique portrayal of Japan and its historical-inspired storyline.
