Sicko Long Island child therapist sentenced to 7 years for sharing baby-rape porn: ‘Simply grotesque’
A horrifying case of child pornography distribution has shocked Long Island, as a female child therapist named Renee “Rina” Hoberman was sentenced to seven years in prison for sharing revolting baby-rape videos online. The 36-year-old therapist from Plainview was described by prosecutors as a vile predator who derived pleasure from the helpless screams of babies in the disturbing videos. More than 100 images of young toddlers and even newborns being sexually abused were found on Hoberman’s devices and accounts.
Hoberman, a licensed social worker, pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography videos on the social media app Kik in 2024. She shared the sickening videos while working as a therapist with children aged 17 and under in Melville. Despite her troubled past of being abandoned and sexually abused as a child, Hoberman’s defense attorney asked for a lighter sentence of 2 to 3 years based on her history of drug abuse and subsequent sobriety. However, the judge was firm in her decision to hand down a seven-year sentence.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Joanna Seybert expressed her shock and dismay at the horrific nature of the crimes committed by Hoberman. The therapist also spoke in court, offering an apology to her family and the victims in the videos. One particularly disturbing video shared by Hoberman showed a baby between 6 months and 1 year old being raped by an adult man. She also engaged in perverted online chat rooms where she pretended to be the father of children and claimed to have had sexual relations with them.
The sentencing of Renee Hoberman has been described as a betrayal of public trust and a violation of innocent lives by Homeland Security Investigations Acting Special for New York Charge Alfonso. The hope is that the justice served in this case will bring some closure to the traumatized victims and offer a sense of healing to the Long Island community. The grotesque nature of Hoberman’s crimes highlights the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals, especially children, from predators like her.
