Singer Mocks Fox News About Super Bowl Gig

Season 51 of “Saturday Night Live” kicked off with a bang as Bad Bunny took the stage for a bilingual monologue that addressed his upcoming performance as the Super Bowl halftime show headliner and the backlash from right-wing critics.

The Puerto Rican artist humorously acknowledged the excitement surrounding his Super Bowl gig, sarcastically mentioning that even Fox News must be thrilled. A montage of clips from the conservative news channel criticizing the NFL’s choice of a Spanish-language artist was played, highlighting Bad Bunny’s comments about avoiding the United States on his recent tour due to concerns about his fans encountering ICE. However, the clips were cleverly edited to make the anchors collectively declare, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician, and he should be the next president.”

Switching to Spanish, Bad Bunny expressed gratitude to all the Latinos and Latinas in the United States who have paved the way for artists like him. He emphasized the significance of their contributions and the impact they have made in the country. Returning to English, he playfully teased the audience, saying, “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”

The monologue took a humorous turn with a surprise appearance by Jon Hamm, affectionately dubbed “Juan Jamón” by Bad Bunny. A clip of Hamm dancing at one of Bad Bunny’s concerts was shown before revealing the actor in the Studio 8H audience, sporting a casual ensemble of a button-up shirt, sunglasses, and a bucket hat.

Following the successful season premiere, “SNL” announced upcoming hosts and musical guests, including Amy Poehler and Role Model on October 11, and Sabrina Carpenter on October 18. The new season also welcomed several new cast members and writers, with familiar faces departing from the show.

As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming episodes of “SNL,” Bad Bunny’s dynamic monologue set the stage for a season filled with laughter, music, and memorable moments. Watch the full monologue below and stay tuned for more exciting performances on the iconic sketch comedy show.
