Six Flags rolls out strict chaperone policy for guests under 17 over spring break to battle ‘disruptive behavior’

Six Flags is introducing new age restrictions at multiple parks during spring break to address disruptive behavior from younger guests, eliciting mixed reactions from visitors.

At Six Flags Over Texas, guests 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult over 21, as outlined on the park’s website. The updated chaperone policy aims to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment in response to rising incidents of unruly behavior at entertainment venues.

Chaperones must present a government-issued ID with their date of birth and can supervise up to five minors at the Arlington, Texas location. Additionally, guests over 17 may need to verify their age upon entry.

Similar chaperone policies are in place at other Six Flags parks, with guests under 15 requiring adult supervision. Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey has also revised its policy, mandating that guests under 17 have a chaperone present by 4:00 p.m. daily.

While some social media users feel the new policy restricts teenagers’ enjoyment, others support the measures to ensure a positive atmosphere for all guests. Recent incidents of violence at Six Flags parks, like a gunfight at Six Flags Over Georgia, have underscored the need for enhanced safety protocols.

Overall, the updated chaperone policies aim to uphold a welcoming environment where families and friends can create lasting memories together, maintaining Six Flags’ reputation as a destination for safe and enjoyable entertainment.
