Smokey Robinson is seeking to escalate the legal battle with a woman accusing him of sexual abuse, urging the court to compel her deposition and impose sanctions on her attorneys.
The iconic singer-songwriter filed a new motion on Thursday, alleging that Jane Doe 2’s legal team is delaying the deposition process, causing unfair harm to Smokey’s reputation and livelihood.
Robinson contends that the prolonged legal battle is affecting his ability to earn a living, particularly through touring, and is urging the court to expedite the deposition process within the next 14 days.
Furthermore, he is requesting sanctions against the plaintiff’s attorneys for the unnecessary delays and the financial burden it has imposed on him and his wife, Frances.

The requested sanction amount is $4,762.50, representing the legal costs incurred by Smokey and Frances in addressing the discovery disputes.
In response to multiple accusations of sexual battery in early May, Smokey Robinson vehemently denies the claims and is determined to clear his name in court.
In a separate incident in 2015, authorities investigated an alleged sexual assault involving Smokey Robinson.
Efforts to reach out to the plaintiff’s legal representatives for comment have been unsuccessful thus far.
