‘SNL’ Weekend Update Jokes About Louvre Heist, Prince Andrew Losing Title

Bowen Yang made a hilarious appearance as former U.S. Congressman George Santos on “Saturday Night Live’s” “Weekend Update” segment. He joked about his supposed marathon win, despite the race being the next day, and discussed his recent prison release.

Santos, who had his sentence commuted by President Donald Trump for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, has been on a media comeback tour since his release. Yang portrayed Santos as a disgraced ex-politician trying to set the record straight about his time in prison.

During the segment, Yang’s Santos claimed to have been in a minimum-security prison with other white-collar criminals, even though he is Black. He joked about his newfound wealth and ancestry, claiming to have stolen back a necklace that belonged to his ancestors, the Zales.

In a satirical twist, “Weekend Update” also touched on Prince Andrew being stripped of his royal title due to his connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Michael Che joked that Andrew could only become a prince again if he received a kiss from a young princess.

The segment also poked fun at Trump’s White House bathroom model, Texas suing Tylenol over an alleged link to autism, and Japan’s new prime minister nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Che humorously remarked on the nomination, highlighting the lack of attention given to women’s voices in decision-making.

Overall, Yang’s portrayal of Santos brought a mix of comedy and social commentary to the “Weekend Update” segment, continuing the show’s tradition of blending current events with humor.
