SNL Weekend Update Oscars, Tucker Carlson Segment

Hollywood’s Big Night: SNL’s “Weekend Update” Takes on Oscars Nominees

As the entertainment industry gears up for Hollywood’s biggest night, “Saturday Night Live’s” “Weekend Update” segment featured a hilarious take on the Oscars nominees. Actor Alex Moffat portrayed conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, criticizing what he perceived as liberal influences on the awards.

In a satirical monologue, Moffat’s Carlson questioned the choice of leading best picture nominees, starting with “Sinners.” He quipped, “Leftist woke America’s favorite movie this year is about sinning, huh? Sorry kids, we don’t go to church anymore, we go to ‘Sinners.’ That’s the rule now.”

He didn’t stop there, poking fun at other nominees like “Hamnet,” joking, “Because we’re not allowed to say ‘Hamlet’ anymore — They took the ‘L’ and gave it to the ‘gbtq.'” His commentary extended to “Bugonia,” where he humorously critiqued Emma Stone’s shaved head, saying, “I guess heterosexual women aren’t allowed to have hair anymore.”

Turning to “One Battle After Another,” another contender for the top prize, Moffat’s Carlson admitted, “I did not see that movie. What is this? What’s going on?”

The segment kicked off with hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost delivering jokes about current events, including Donald Trump’s conflict with Iran. Che quipped about a potential drone attack on the Oscars ceremony, humorously tying in the FBI’s warning about Iran’s capabilities: “The Oscars, tomorrow on NBC!”
