Socialist LA official Eunisses Hernandez caught in donor lie

Left-wing Los Angeles politician Eunisses Hernandez is making headlines for her strong stance against billionaires and corporations, claiming their donations are not welcome. However, recent campaign filings reveal that Hernandez has accepted donations from two billionaire families, raising questions about her commitment to her anti-wealth rhetoric.

In an Instagram video, Hernandez condemns billionaires and urges them to “keep scrolling” while framing her reelection campaign as a battle against wealthy interests that exploit working families. Despite her fiery rhetoric, Hernandez has come under fire for failing to attend political meetings while a park in her district, MacArthur Park, has become a hub for drug use and crime.

Once a community gathering spot, MacArthur Park has transformed into a hotspot for fentanyl use and criminal activity, symbolizing the failure of City Hall to address pressing issues in the area. Despite her claims of fighting for the working class, Hernandez has faced criticism for her inaction in addressing the deteriorating conditions in her district.

Campaign finance records show that Hernandez has received donations from Patty Quillin, the wife of Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, and Elizabeth Simons, the daughter of late hedge-fund titan Jim Simons. Both Quillin and Simons are prominent Democratic donors known for supporting progressive causes and candidates.

Quillin has a history of making significant contributions to Democratic super PACs, including donations to the Senate Majority PAC during the 2016 and 2018 election cycles. Simons, on the other hand, recently donated $250,000 to a group supporting newly elected NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Despite receiving support from billionaire donors, Hernandez’s fundraising efforts have been lackluster, with only $74,609 raised in the current election cycle. Her opponent, Sylvia Robledo, has managed to raise $48,242, indicating a close race in the upcoming election.

The revelation of Hernandez’s connections to billionaire donors has raised concerns about her credibility and commitment to her anti-wealth platform. As the campaign heats up, voters will have to decide whether Hernandez’s actions align with her rhetoric or if she is simply another politician beholden to wealthy interests.
