Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut cancels 2025 event over ‘circumstances beyond our control’
The highly anticipated Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut has left fans disappointed after abruptly cancelling the star-studded event just two months before it was set to kick off. The festival organizers made the shocking announcement on the festival’s official website, citing “circumstances beyond our control” as the reason for the cancellation. Ticket holders were assured that refunds would be processed promptly.
While no specific details were provided about the cause of the cancellation, Thomas Gaudett, the chief administrative officer for Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, suggested that ticket sales for this year’s lineup were lower than expected, potentially leading to the decision to cancel the event. The news reportedly caught Bridgeport officials off guard, as they were not involved in the decision-making process and were only informed after the cancellation had been finalized.
Originally scheduled to take place at Seaside Park in Bridgeport on September 27 and 28, the festival had already announced a star-studded lineup featuring artists like The Killers, Weezer, Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Alex Warren, and DJO. Despite the buzz surrounding the lineup, the festival chose to wipe its social media accounts clean following the cancellation announcement.
Fans have expressed their disappointment with the festival’s ticket prices, which started at $170 for a single-day general admission ticket. Some have speculated that the high cost of tickets may have impacted sales, while others simply did not find the lineup appealing this year.
Last year, the festival saw record attendance with 57,000 concertgoers flocking to the waterfront event, even after the Foo Fighters pulled out of their headlining slot. The festival has a history of hosting top-tier artists like John Mayer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Nicks, and Dave Matthews.
The Soundside Music Festival, previously known as Sound on Sound, was first launched in 2022 and quickly gained a reputation for delivering unforgettable music experiences. Produced by Governor’s Ball producers Tom Russell and Jordan Wolowitz, Live Nation, and developer Howard Saffan, the festival has become a staple in Connecticut’s music scene.
Despite this year’s cancellation, fans can only hope that the Soundside Music Festival will return in the future with an even more exciting lineup and unforgettable performances.
