Mass Shooting at Juneteenth Celebration Leaves One Dead, Multiple Injured in South Carolina

Tragedy struck at a Juneteenth celebration at a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) facility in South Carolina on Saturday night as one person was killed and several others were injured in a mass shooting, according to officials.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the scene outside of Greenville where gunfire erupted just before 11 p.m., as reported by WSPA. The VFW 1790 was hosting the Juneteenth celebration at the time of the shooting, according to deputies.

The victim was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial, while eight others were rushed to hospitals in Anderson and Greenville for treatment.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with no information currently available about the victims or the shooter’s motive.
