Spineless tourist cowers as young woman fights off armed robber in Colombia, viral video shows

A recent incident in Colombia captured on security camera footage has gone viral, showing a brave woman fending off a knife-wielding attacker while her male companion appeared to cower in fear. The video shows the couple chatting at the entrance of a building when the thug suddenly appears with a weapon, attempting to slash the woman’s backpack off her body.

In the footage, the woman can be seen putting up a fierce fight against the attacker, clawing and shoving at him, while her companion retreats behind a wall and onto the sidewalk, seemingly too terrified to intervene. Despite briefly stepping forward, the man never comes to the woman’s aid, leaving her to fend for herself for a full fifteen seconds. Another bystander also hesitates to intervene, allowing the woman to continue struggling against the assailant.

Fortunately, a good Samaritan eventually steps in, striking the thug with a motorcycle helmet. Three more passers-by join in, overpowering the attacker and beating him on the ground. Surprisingly, the cowardly companion remains on the sidelines throughout the ordeal, failing to assist even when the thief is outnumbered.

After the danger has passed, the male companion reappears to comfort the woman. Little information is available about the incident, including the relationship between the backpackers and the exact date of the incident. However, online commentators have not hesitated to criticize the cowardly behavior of the male companion, with some mocking his lack of courage.

Despite the negative reactions towards the bystanders, many praised the bravery of the woman and the quick action of the good Samaritans who came to her rescue. The incident has sparked discussions online about courage, bystander intervention, and the importance of standing up against crime. Overall, the video serves as a reminder of the power of community solidarity and the need to support those in need during moments of crisis.
