‘Squid Game’ Star Lee Jung-jae to Lead Prime Video Korean Rom-Com
Prime Video has recently announced the greenlighting of a new Korean romantic comedy series titled “Nice to Not Meet You.” This exciting project will star Lee Jung-jae, known for his role in the hit series “Squid Game,” and Lim Ji-yeon, who garnered praise for her performance in “The Glory.”
In this series, Lee Jung-jae will be venturing into a new genre as he takes on the role of Lim Hyeon-jun, an actor typecast in detective roles who is eager to break out into more dramatic characters. On the other hand, Lim Ji-yeon will portray Wi Jeong-sin, a political reporter whose assignment suddenly changes to entertainment coverage, leading to comedic clashes as she navigates this unfamiliar territory.
The series will be directed by Kim Ga-ram, known for his work on popular dramas like “Good Partner” and “Nevertheless.” With scripts by Jung Yeo-rang, the show is set to blend industry satire with romantic comedy, providing a unique perspective on the inner workings of the entertainment world.
This strategic casting decision by Prime Video aims to tap into the growing popularity of Korean content globally. By leveraging Lee Jung-jae’s post-“Squid Game” fame and Lim Ji-yeon’s rising profile, the streaming platform hopes to rival Netflix’s dominance in the K-drama space.
“Nice to Not Meet You” will join Prime Video’s expanding lineup of Korean originals, alongside other titles like “Head Over Heels,” “Good Boy,” and popular anime acquisitions such as “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” and “Rurouni Kenshin.” The series will be released globally in over 240 countries and territories, with episodes dropping weekly. While no premiere date has been announced yet, fans can look forward to experiencing this new romantic comedy series soon on Prime Video.
