Starbucks roasted after barista hands LA cop ‘extremely offensive’ image
A Los Angeles deputy sheriff found himself at the center of a disrespectful incident during a 16-hour shift when a Starbucks barista served him coffee in a cup featuring a hand-drawn image of a pig. The image, a derogatory symbol often used to insult law enforcement officers, left the deputy feeling discouraged and disrespected after a long day of serving the community.
The incident, which took place on Jan. 9, sparked outrage from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, who condemned the act as deeply concerning and demeaning to law enforcement. In a statement released by the department, they expressed their disappointment and stated that such disrespectful actions would not be tolerated against their personnel.
The deputy, whose identity remains undisclosed, took to his private Instagram account to share his experience. He described feeling uneasy and disheartened by the disrespectful gesture, especially after a long day of serving the community. All he had wanted was a caffeine boost, but instead, he was met with a symbol of disrespect.
Upon learning of the incident, Sheriff Robert Luna took immediate action and reached out to Starbucks’ corporate security division to formally address the issue and ensure accountability. The department made it clear that they would not stand for such behavior towards their officers and expected the company to take appropriate measures in response to the incident.
The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, where even a simple act like getting a cup of coffee can turn into a disrespectful spectacle. It highlights the importance of mutual respect and understanding between law enforcement and the community they serve, and the need to address and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
