Stellan Skarsgård Crashes ‘SNL’ as Son Alexander Skarsgård Hosts

Alexander Skarsgård recently made his hosting debut on “Saturday Night Live” and surprised fans by bringing his father, Stellan Skarsgård, on stage with him. Despite his stoic demeanor, Alexander did not mention his upcoming films “Pillion” or “The Moment” during his monologue. Instead, he entertained the audience by pretending to play the saxophone along with the “SNL” band.

In a hilarious sketch titled “Stench of a Family,” Alexander and Chloe Fineman played cast members in a Scandinavian drama who struggled to keep a straight face while filming. The scene revolved around their characters’ father, portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård, who wanted to die and lay in a bathtub waiting to bid farewell. The tension was broken when Stellan, hidden beneath the water with a fake Incredible Hulk prop on his hand, raised his fist in the air, delivering the final punchline.

Stellan showcased his versatility by playing against his usual image in this sketch and in another segment that satirized the behavior of immigrant parents. Alexander portrayed a reserved Finn whose only moment of affection from his father was accidentally touching knees in a sauna. The sketch culminated in a dramatic confrontation between the characters, with Stellan joining in to scream, “The shame is yours! Live with it!”

The episode’s musical guest, Cardi B, made a surprise appearance in the immigrant parents sketch, playing the wife of Marcello Hernández’s character. Sporting a wig with rollers, Cardi seized the cigarette from Hernández and humorously hinted at potentially hosting the show in the future.

Overall, Alexander Skarsgård’s “Saturday Night Live” debut was a memorable one, filled with laughter, surprises, and a special appearance by his talented father, Stellan Skarsgård. The sketches showcased the actors’ comedic chops and willingness to poke fun at themselves, making for an entertaining evening of television.
