Stephen Colbert needles Kamala Harris after she can’t answer simple question
Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and was unable to identify who the current leader of the Democratic Party is, much to the surprise of the host and viewers. Harris, who announced she would not be running for Governor of California next year, hesitated when Colbert asked her to name a leader of the party, instead stating that there are many leaders within the Democratic Party.
Colbert, not satisfied with her response, pressed Harris to name a specific individual. However, she remained evasive, expressing reluctance to single out one person and potentially leave others out. Harris emphasized that the responsibility of moving forward and navigating challenges does not rest solely on one individual but on the collective efforts of all party members.
After the awkward exchange, the interview came to an abrupt end, with Colbert wrapping up the conversation. Potential Democratic leaders that Harris could have mentioned include Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries, all prominent figures in the party.
Harris’ appearance on Colbert’s show marked her eighth time on the program, coinciding with the release of her book, “107 Days,” which delves into her experiences running for president. Despite the awkward moment during the interview, Harris continues to be a significant figure within the Democratic Party, contributing to discussions and debates on key issues facing the nation.
